Fraud
Side job offers that ask you to pay first
Fake job offers aimed at people looking for extra income change wording often. The core rarely changes: at some point, you're asked to send money.
Patterns to recognise
- Fees to start. Training, registration or "activation" before you can work.
- Starter kits. Equipment or stock you must buy from them.
- Deposits. Tasks that unlock only after you top up a balance.
- Forwarding money. Receiving payments and sending them on. This can involve you in a crime.
What genuine work looks like
Real employers and platforms pay you. They don't charge you to work, ask for your banking password, or need you to move money for them.
If you've been contacted
Stop replying and report the account where it contacted you. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away and report it to the police or your country's fraud reporting service.
